Tele Law launched by Govt to provide legal aid in rural areas via video conferencing.

  • Aim: To provide legal aid for the people living in rural areas through video conferencing.
  • It has been launched to make legal aid readily available to the citizens residing in the countryside and marginalised communities.
  • It was launched by IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad.
  • In the first phase, across 1000 CSCs in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, the Tele-Law scheme will be tested as a pilot.

“Hill Area Development Programme” announced by Dr. Jitendra Singh for Northeast.

  • In Imphal, Manipur Dr Jitendra Singh The Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), announced the launch of “Hill Area Development Programme” (HADP) for Northeast.
  • Aim: To bridge the gap between the hill and valley districts regarding infrastructure, quality of roads, health and education.

For 66 Items, GST Council Lowers Tax Rate.

  • On 66 goods and services, Goods and Services Tax (GST) Council lowered rates including Insulin, construction items, pickles, schoolbags, colouring books and
    mustard sauce.
  • On insulin and cashew Tax rate has been lowered to 5%.
  • Cinema tickets costing up to Rs. 100 will be taxed at 18% and ticket costing more than Rs. 100 at 28%.

China launched World’s largest floating Solar Farm.

  • It consisting of 160000 panels.
  • It is expected to generate 40 megawatts at one time and could supply electricity for over 15,000 homes.

To institutionalise cooperation between Parliaments India, Mauritius sign MoU.

  • To institutionalise cooperation between Parliaments of the two countries India and Mauritius have signed a MoU.
  • It was signed by Santi Bai Hanoomanjee (Speaker of National Assembly of Mauritius) and  Sumitra Mahajan (Lok Sabha Speaker).
